Celebrating World Book Day - Find out how you can get involved

What is World Book Day?

Thursday 2nd March marks this year's World Book Day! World Book Day changes lives through a love of books and shared reading. Their mission is to promote reading for pleasure, offering young people the opportunity to have a book of their own.  World Book Day is marked in over 100 countries around the globe!

In the Library, we see it as the perfect opportunity to celebrate all things books! Take a look below at ways in which you can get involved this World Book Day!

Wordsearches and Quizzes

The Library has a selection of literary wordsearches and quizzes available across the three Library centres. Hand your completed puzzles in to the Library desk for your chance to win a prize!

Reading Ahead

If you want to improve your reading skills or just want to get back into reading this World Book Day, then Reading Ahead is for you! Reading Ahead is a national reading challenge which invites you to read six things. When you finish each read, submit your thoughts and give it a score.

Reading is a great way of challenging yourself and can improve literacy skills, teach you new things, support your wellbeing and build confidence. Once you've completed six reads, you’ve finished and you’ll receive a certificate and a prize!

You can join the scheme by collecting a diary from the Library or even begin your journey today by submitting your reading online here.
