Hairdressing eBooks can be accessed for free from home or college 24/7 and means no lugging heavy books around! Click on one of the eBooks below or visit our eBooks section to search for even more titles. You may need to log in via Shibboleth, or through your institution. Just select 'Northampton College' and log in using your student ID and password.

The Vogue Archive: An incredible resource where you can explore back issues of Vogue dating back to 1892!
Startups: Advice and guidance on how to set up your own startup company. Case studies, legal details and more.
Entrepreneur: Advice and guides on how to set up your own business. Includes case studies and entrepreneur profiles.
The National Hairdressers' Federation: A member organisation for UK hairdressers. Find advice, events, networking and blogs here.
My Hairdressers: Formed in 2007, My Hairdressers aims to bring instant education to everyone. The website is filled with video tutorials and blog posts aimed to improve your skills.
Hair Heads: A hairdressers handbook in the form of a website which contains a wealth of information aimed at FE students including visual dictionaries, articles, advice and revision quizzes.
Confessions of a Hair Stylist: Jenny Strebe has over 15 years of hairdressing experience. She runs a blog and a Youtube channel filled with how-tos, opinions and advice.
Modern Barber: This website features a comprehensive portfolio, online magazine, blog, events, tips and jobs, all focused around barbering.
Google Scholar: A platform that specifically searches for academic articles. Also look at Google Books, a search function for books, many of which can be read in full or in part online.

Planet eStream is an amazing video-on-demand service that holds thousands of film, TV and radio resources for use with your studies. Click below to search  videos you may find useful for your course.

Information and Study skills

The Library can offer support within any of the following areas. Click on any of the topics below to go to the Information and Study Skills Moodle page which includes Study Smart courses for each topic as well as activities, PowerPoint presentations and useful information leaflets.

Northampton College Libraries’ Learning Facilitators are available to support you in developing your writing, computer, information and study skills. They are here to help you on your path to independent learning. If you need help with any of the areas listed above please talk to a Learning Facilitator.
