Finding Art and Design Resources


The Library has collections with two eBook platforms; VLe Books and Ebook Central. Visit our eBooks section to search for titles in your subject area. You may need to log in via Shibboleth, or through your institution. Just select 'Northampton College' and log in using your student ID and password. Click to go to our eBook section.

The National Gallery: You can search the entire collection of The National Gallery. You can view the paintings in detail and go behind the scenes, go on virtual tours, view articles and videos to give you an insight in to the world of art.
Art UK: Art UK are a charity dedicated to making art available to everyone. Access artist profiles, blog posts, articles, venue news, podcasts and more.
Art Project: You can access high resolution images of a large number of artworks from some of the world's leading galleries.
Getty Publications: The J. Paul Getty trust is an organisation dedicated to visual arts. Their blog explores all things art related and you can access the Getty Magazine for free as well as explore their Virtual Library.
Tate Life Drawing Masterclass: Tate invited five well-known artists to teach a Life Drawing Masterclass, from their own unique perspective.
Design Curial: Encompassing architecture, design, art and interiors, Design Curial has opinion pieces, news, awards and events for all art and design interests.
De Zeen: A world famous architecture, interior design magazine. Browse articles, opinion pieces and jobs.
Digital Arts: An online magazine covering illustration, branding, graphic design, UX, 3D, VFX and VR.
A-N: A-N is a UK member organisation for artists. Find news, information, support and advice here.
Association of Illustrators: A UK Organisation who supports illustrators, hosts awards and helps protect artist rights.
Art News: An American magazine that is read worldwide. Features reviews, collection information and back issues.
The Vogue Archive: An incredible resource for anyone with an interest in fashion. Explore back issues of Vogue dating back to 1892!

Planet eStream Videos

Planet eStream is an amazing video-on-demand service that holds thousands of film, TV and radio resources for use with your studies. Click below to search  videos you may find useful for your course.

Information and Study skills

The Library can offer support within any of the following areas. Click on any of the topics below to go to the Information and Study Skills Moodle page which includes Study Smart courses for each topic as well as activities, PowerPoint presentations and useful information leaflets.

Northampton College Libraries’ Learning Facilitators are available to support you in developing your writing, computer, information and study skills. They are here to help you on your path to independent learning. If you need help with any of the areas listed above please talk to a Learning Facilitator.
