The online catalogue is a way to access Northampton College Libraries’ catalogue online. To log in use your Northampton College username and password.
There are many things that you can do in the online catalogue. You can search the catalogue, reserve items, renew items and check your account.
When you enter the online catalogue, enter your search query into the search box and click the magnifying glass. You will see a list of results which will tell you the item type, name of the item, author, publish date, and how many copies are available. Click on the item that you are interested in and you will find more information, including which catalogue the item is located at.
If the item is available you cannot reserve the item online but you can contact the library and ask for the item to be held for you. If the item is not at the library that you would usually use (for example, the item is at Booth Lane but you are at Daventry) when you contact the catalogue it will be sent to the catalogue that is most convenient for you.
If the item is unavailable you can reserve it. Simply click the reserve button. You will be asked to log in if you aren’t already. After you have logged in the item will be reserved for you. You can only reserve 1 item at a time.

If you have an item that is nearing it’s due date you can renew it online. Remember, you are limited to 2 renews per item and items that are overdue cannot be renewed.
To renew an item click on ‘Account’ in the top menu, check the box for the item(s) that you want to renew then click ‘renew’.
To see what items you have on loan, click ‘Account’ in the top menu, then select the ‘loans’ tab. Here you will see a list of items that you have on loan, including the due date. You also have the option to renew items.
To see what items you have reserved, click on ‘Account’ in the top menu, then select the ‘Reserved’ tab. Here you can see date that the item was reserved, it’s status and until when it will be held.
To check what items you have taken out in the past, click on ‘Account’ then select the ‘History’ tab. Here you will be presented with a list of the items that you have taken out in the past including the date it was issued.
On the right hand side of the screen is a box with your account information. The text in this box will be red if you have a charge on your account. The charge is 5p per overdue item every week day, excluding holidays. The amount of the charge is displayed in the bottom of the box. You need to visit a catalogue in person to pay a charge.
If you find an item that you want think is important and want to add it to your favourites, you can create a favourites list. Before you can create a list you need to login to your account. To create a favourites list check the item(s) that you want to add and click 'Add to favourites' which is positioned on the right hand side. You can choose to create a new list or add the item to an existing list. When you have made your selection, click 'OK'.
To see your favourites, click 'Favourites' in the top menu.
