Library Staff Judge National Competition

After a break of three years, the BBC’s 500 Words Competition is back, and this year, Northampton College Library is pleased to be supporting the national campaign.

The Library’s very own Tom has been selected as a judge to sift through and judge entries, helping contribute to choosing the winners of this year’s competition.

‘500 Words’, first launched in 2011 is the UK’s most successful short story-writing competition for children between the ages of 5 and 11. Since it launched, the competition has received over one million stories from children throughout the UK.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace in February 2024.
