Feeling anxious? You’re not alone.

Mental Health Awareness Week

Hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, Mental Health Awareness Week will take place from 15th-21st May 2023. This year’s theme is Anxiety

Anxiety is a normal emotion in us all, but sometimes it can get out of control and become a mental health problem.

Lots of things can lead to feelings of anxiety, including exam pressures, relationships, starting a new job (or losing one) or other big life events. We can also get anxious when it comes to things to do with money and not being able to meet our basic needs, like heating our home or buying food. Anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems we can face.

Focusing on anxiety for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week will increase people’s awareness and understanding of anxiety by providing information on the things that can help prevent it from becoming a problem. Visit the Mental Health Awareness Week website to find out ways to manage feelings of anxiety and prevent them from getting worse.

Meanwhile, don’t forget to visit the Wellbeing section of this website for support with all aspects of your mental health and general wellbeing. The Library has tons of resources available to help you!

Exam pressures can contribute to feelings of anxiety. The College’s Mental Health and Well-Being Team are offering students a quiet space on the morning of the GCSE exams. More information on the College’s Calm Rooms.
