Creative Writing Contest (Now closed for entries)

As we are living through a time most of us have never experienced before, the Library is launching a Creative Writing challenge to showcase writing skills and exercise creativity in these challenging times.

You can become a lockdown linguist by producing a piece of creative writing beginning with the following starter sentence …

‘As towns and cities grow quiet, animals venture into the streets and a little bit of wildness returns to human places. As I look around…’

To enter, continue the sentence into a piece of creative writing, or use it as inspiration. This can be a poem, short story, letter or song and this must be no longer than 500 words.

Please submit your entries on the upload form below.

The entries will be judged and displayed on the Library website. The winners will receive a prize!

The competition is open for entries to both students and staff until Friday 29th May so what are you waiting for? Get writing today!

Good luck!
